A Grand Grand-Opening in Glenview
Sweet Ali’s celebrated the Grand Opening of its Glenview bakery on Saturday June 18th. But this was just the culmination of 2 years of discussions, research, planning and hard work.
We knew we wanted to expand. But where? We have heard from customers for years: Please open a bakery in the City. In the southern suburbs. In the northern suburbs. How about northwest? As much as we would love to be everywhere for everyone, it just isn’t feasible (although you can find us in 100+ locations through our wholesale partners). After a lot of research and driving around in cars scoping out different areas, we zoned in on Glenview and then focused on the exact location.
Then the “real” work began. We spent months (and months) with architects and general contractors, making sure the design was just what we always wanted and dreamed of. We took lessons from our Hinsdale location and incorporated them into Glenview. We ordered supplies and ingredients. We hired staff and trained them.
As the contractors worked, we shared pictures of the progress. When the signs went up we knew we were getting close. We had a “soft” opening on June 3rd. This allowed us to open the doors, invite you in and fine-tune our processes and procedures. We appreciate your patience as we built up our stock of products and trained our new staff.
Behind the scenes we were also planning a big party for June 18th. We knew we wanted to make a splash to introduce the bakery to Glenview and the surrounding areas. We started the day with a cookie cutting ceremony with President Patterson from the Village of Glenview. The Village and Glenview Chamber of Commerce have been very supportive and we appreciate it.
That was followed up with the party with Lisa Allen from 101.9 THE MIX. They played music, took pictures, played games and gave away raffle prizes. We handed out samples of Sweet Ali’s products, and Gilbert’s Craft Sausages generously donated brats and hot dogs for the picnic.
As we always believe in giving back, we had a lemonade stand that raised money for Advocate Children’s Hospital Pediatric Celiac Disease Center. Because of your generous donations we were able to raise over $200.
We first want to thank 101.9 THE MIX, Advocate Children’s Hospital, The Village of Glenview and Gilbert’s Craft Sausages for all their support for our Grand Opening. Most of all we want to thank you, our customers and friends. You have welcomed us with open arms to the Glenview area, and for that we are so grateful. We look forward to seeing all of you again and again in Glenview (and Hinsdale!).
